Dear Parents and Ballplayers:
It’s that time of year again to prepare for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons! This year Orefield will be playing baseball in the Parkland League and the Upper/Lower Macungie League. The boys play in five different divisions according to age as of May 1st. The divisions are: PYL T-ball (born between 5/1/03 and 4/30/05),PYL Grasshopper (born between 5/1/01 and 4/30/03), ULMK A (born between 5/1/99 and 4/30/01), ULMK AA (born between 5/1/97 and 4/30/99), and ULMK AAA (born between 5/1/94 and 4/30/97). Please note that the Orefield Athletic Association does have a written policy on "playing up". Read about that policy here.

Some boys try out for North Parkland or South Parkland Lehigh Valley travel teams. We encourage your child to register at Orefield first so that in the event he doesn’t make the travel team he can still play within the organization. If he does make the L.V. team, the registration fee to Orefield will be reimbursed.

We also sponsor softball teams in the Parkland League. The girls play in five different divisions according to age as of January 1st. The divisions are: Prep (ages 6-8), 10&U, 12&U, 14&U, and 18&U. We will support a 14&u and 18&U team only if we have enough girls signing up. Please note that the Orefield Athletic Association does have a written policy on "playing up". Read about that policy here.

Sign-ups for baseball and softball will be held on Saturday, January 23rd and Saturday, January 30th at the Kernsville Elementary School Cafeteria. The time is 9am to 12:00pm on both days. Another option being offered this year allows the registration and conduct forms to be downloaded, completed, and mailed to the OAA mailbox throughout the entire month of January. Please note, any registrations received after the January 31st cutoff date, however, will be taken only via the mail and then only on a first-come first-served basis. Those players registering after the January 31st cutoff date will be placed on a "wait list" and every attempt will be made to place the child on a team (space permitting) for the 2010 season. If we are unable to place your child on a team, due to rosters at that level being filled, the registration fee will be returned.

The registration fee this year is set at $60 per child,(includes uniform to keep). As we have done in the past we also ask each family to participate in the 30-ticket ($2/ticket) raffle; this is our only fund-raising activity of the year. Note that again this year the organization will be collecting raffle ticket money during the registration session versus collecting this money during the uniform distribution time.

If you sign up via US Mail, please include a registration form, code of conduct form, check payable to OAA(total of registration fee and raffle tickets) & a copy of your childs birth certificate (if your child did not play for Orefield in 2009).
Mail to:
OAA
P.O. Box 81
Orefield, PA. 18069.

Your raffle tickets will then be given to you by your son’s/daughter’s coach.
